Turnitin Similarity Reports: A Student Guide
Turnitin is a separate company and trademark. Plagiarism & AI Check is an independent service and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Turnitin.
Many students encounter Turnitin when submitting academic work through their university. If you want to understand what that report will show before your instructor sees it, this page explains how it works — and how you can run a pre-submission similarity check on your own draft.
What a Turnitin similarity report contains
A Turnitin similarity report highlights text in your paper that matches content in its database of web pages, academic publications, and previously submitted student papers. It produces a similarity score — the percentage of your document that matches existing sources — and lists each matching source so a reader can inspect every overlap.
Instructors interpret the report in context: a correctly quoted and cited passage still counts as a match, so a higher score does not automatically mean misconduct. Filters can also exclude quotes, bibliographies, and small matches from the score.
Why students check their work before submission
Reviewing your own similarity report before submitting lets you catch problems while you can still fix them: a missing citation, a paraphrase that tracks the source too closely, or a reference list inflating your score. It is a study aid, not a way to evade detection — the goal is to submit genuinely well-cited work with confidence.
Plagiarism & AI Check offers a pre-submission similarity check for a flat $10. Upload your draft, pay securely, and receive your report by email, usually within a few hours.
Turnaround speed and delivery
Every check is run manually rather than by an automated queue, which keeps quality high and means reports are normally emailed within a few hours of payment. You receive an order confirmation with a reference code immediately after checkout, so you always know your submission was received, and the report itself follows to the same email address.
If you are working to a tight deadline, submit as early as you can and use the email address you check most often. If a report has not arrived within a reasonable time, check your spam folder first, then reply to your confirmation email and we will follow it up.
An independent service
Plagiarism & AI Check is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Turnitin, LLC. We provide an independent pre-submission checking service that helps students review matching text in their own work before submission. We never promise a particular score or outcome, and no service should.
Privacy and confidentiality
Your document is handled only as necessary to provide the checking service. We do not sell your document, share it with third parties for their own purposes, or use it for marketing. Files are reviewed manually by us for the sole purpose of producing your report, and can be deleted on request once your report has been delivered — just reply to your report email and ask.
Payment is processed securely by Stripe, so Plagiarism & AI Check never sees or stores your card details. You do not need an account to order a single check; if you buy a check pack, your credits are stored against your account and never expire.
